My First Crochet Blog

I came up with the bright idea of designing and crocheting our bedspread after our new bedroom suit was in place. I love the look of wood and stitching together. I'm pretty blah in my color choices to some. But natural colors are beautiful to me. Thankfully, my dear husband agrees.

While in Joanne's, I came across a bin with small skeins of ecru Lily Sugar 'n Cream next to a bin Lily Sugar 'n Cream buttercream ombre. I love cotton. It's so simple and soft. I couldn't imagine anything prettier for our bedspread than the combination in front of me. I bought all I could and got started that day. There is no store near me that carries enough of one color to complete an entire bedspread. After using all the skeins I bought at Joanne's, I went to Michael's, then I found http://www.yarn-and-threadbylisa.com/index.htm and now I won't buy my project yarn anywhere else. She was SO nice and was able to get all six pound cones in the same dye lot!

I could go on and on about how many times I started over, but that's only important to me. To keep it a little shorter here, I measured our bed, had the finished look in my mind, and got started.

Here is a sample of the stitches I used and the colors:

Here is the final product:

And one more shot:

Here are the fans who kept me in my chair so it didn't take a year for me to complete this project. Lulu in on the left. Scooter Roo is on the right.

Now, I want to attempt the Noah's Ark afghan, and so many other projects. There just isn't enough time in the day to crochet!
